Center for the Success of English Learners (CSEL) Launches Resource Website

We are pleased to announce the launch of our sister Center's website. This month, the Center for the Success of English Learners (CSEL), housed at the University of Texas, Houston, debuted their resource website.

CSEL will "undertake a focused program of research aimed at identifying and removing barriers related to school tracking through analysis of administrative and newly collected data using a mixed methods approach." Their portfolio of proposed work and ours are very complementary. We both focus on common course-taking patterns English Learners follow in secondary school, their impact, and how to reverse negative practices, but each Center covers different states. CSEL will be developing and testing materials in Science and Social Studies, while our Center will develop and test educative materials in English Language Arts and Math, another great complementarity. Thus, we welcome the opportunity to jointly be able to make a major impact in a field that needs quality, evidence-based actionable ideas and improvement.
